Sandy Bridge Processor

Sandy Bridge is the new architecture used by Intel foe its processors. It is developed in the year 2005, demonstrated in the year 2009 and released in the year 2011 as Core processors. It is built on 32 nm transistors.

The processors under Sandy Bridge architecture are built with support for graphics. The maximum speed of the processor is 3.6 GHz. Intel Quick Sync Video is the added hardware support for encoding and decoding videos. Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) is the security feature added in the processor.

Currently the Sandy Bridge architecture is used in the i5 and i7 processors. The Sandy Bridge processors are used in mobile devices too. Except Pentium and Celeron, all the mobile processors works with the Sandy Bridge processors. It uses the Intel's Graphics sub-system HD 3000.
